Sauerkraut etc.

Joachim was born in Germany. More specifically, he was born in a place called Mittel-Gründau, which was later merged with several neighbouring villages to form Gründau. Like many Germans he enjoys eating Sauerkraut, especially in combination with good sausages. Some people regard this as peculiar, and think they are being funny when referring to Germans as Krauts.

Oh, in case you don't know: Sauerkraut is fermented cabbage. For a fairly detailed description of the procedure for making Sauerkraut take a look at Ohio State University's Factsheet for Making Fermented Vegetables. In practice, however, fermenting it yourself is not worth the trouble, just buy it ready-made in a supermarket.

Joachim is proud to be a Kraut, although he doesn't really care much about citizenship. Currently he lives in Canada, and he regards himself as a citizen of Planet Earth.
